About the editorial approach

Attention to language.
Room for the author.

This independent portfolio introduces Sophie Bougaud’s proposed editorial services through original sample exercises. Its focus is the decision behind each mark, not an invented publishing history.

Read for meaning first.

A correction needs context. A brief identifies the reader, the purpose of the text and the point at which it will be edited. A late proof differs from a draft that still needs restructuring.

The studies show narrow, explainable choices: punctuation that interrupts a phrase, a verb that does not agree with its subject and a rhythm that can be repaired with one small change. The text and its author remain central.

Qualifications, prior employers and client engagements are not listed because none have been supplied. The examples are fictional source passages created for this portfolio.
